The Medical Education Unit is entrusted with the responsibility of organizing lectures/workshops/symposiums etc. On interdisciplinary topics with the goal of improving knowledge and skill of the faculty and residents with respect to the teaching-learning process, research methodology and allied subjects.

Average of 2-3 faculty members of the institute undergo 6-day Teachers Training Course being conducted periodically by Institute of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of West Bengal since July, 2009. Currently this programme has been shortened to 4 days.
Prof. Pradip Kumar Mitra, former Director of IPGME&R, Kolkata, was faculty and Joint Coordinator of the course during his tenure. Currently Prof. Avijit Hazra, Dept. of Pharmacology, IPGME&R, is a faculty member for this course.
Convener has undergone training at 12th National Course on Educational Science & Technology, National Teacher Training Centre, Institute of Medical Sciences, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi between Aug 23 – Sep 1, 1997. Among the other MEU members, Prof. Avijit Hazra and Prof. P. S. Chakraborty have undergone three days of training conducted by Faculty from MCI Regional Center for Medical Education Technologies, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, between Nov 14-16, 2013 at Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Kolkata.
